Best of 2024 - Songs - Part VANESSA!

The most significant moment in ALL of music this year was the resurfacing of POP! Goddess VANESSA!! She gave us THREE new 2024 versions of three of her biggest hits! She played live a couple times (AND I GOT TO SEE ONE OF THOSE!!!!) She made this year even more magical! All three of her 2024 versions are in my top songs of the year, obviously!! VANESSA, I LOVE YOU!!

Vanessa - Cheerio (2024 Version)

Yaaaassssssss the next of Vanessa's new 2024 versions is the mega-joyful "Cheerio"! The extended laughter and happiness at the end of this new version brings me so much bliss!!

Vanessa - Upside Down (2024 Version)

STOP THE PRESSES, HOLD THE PHONES!!! VANESSA HAS RETURNED!!!! Ultimate POP! Diva VANESSA!! GIVER GODDESS OF SUPREME MEGA-HITS LIKE "UPSIDE DOWN" & "DYNAMITE" & "OBSESSION" & "I'M GETTING READY FOR LOVE"!! OH HAPPY DAY!!
She's just released the 2024 version of "Upside Down" and it is glorious! She has also announced a couple of upcoming performances which sadly I JUST found out about or you know I would be there!
I'm hoping MORE performances will be announced and MORE 2024 versions will be released!! Maybe even NEW VANESSA MEGA-HITS!? The world needs VANESSA more than ever now!! I'm so happy!!!

It was only a matter of time before supreme GODDESS of POP! Vanessa received her very own Top 10 list from me!  Vanessa is pure joy, pure beauty, pure POP!!  I'll never forget discovering her on YouTube while watching a  random ABBA video.  Seeing her smiling face in a still as a recommended video at the end of said video was a must-click moment and my life has never been the same!  "Upside Down" was the song. Vanessa was the Diva.  The rest is history.

In honor of my dear bestie Walter, here's Vanessa's other 1982 single, "CHEERIO"!  This is his favorite Vanessa song and he described these videos as "an audio-visual orgy of colors and beats!"  I could not agree more!!  The costumes, the bouncing bridge, the hair...oh this video is as joyous as this amazing song!!  You'll get to hear this song in one of Walter's upcoming short films...Vanessa is an inspiration to all!!!

Seeing Vanessa live is probably a dream of mine that will stay a dream, but at least there are amazing YouTube videos that show just what a powerhouse she was live!!  Here, we get THREE of her biggest hits, including the very difficult to find late 80's single "I'm Getting Ready for Love"!!

Vanessa Is My OBSESSION!

"Obsession" is the name of Vanessa's 2nd "album" and one of Vanessa's biggest hits!  Needless to say, I was obsessed the minute I first laid eyes (and ears) on Vanessa and my obsession only grew as I delved deeper and deeper into her pop hit storm!!

Vanessa - The 2nd Chapter - Dynamite

It actually took me a few days before I listened to any Vanessa song other than "Upside Down".  It brought me utter delight when I finally did choose another song, and that song was "Dynamite"!  This song, oh this song is MAGIC!!  The A-B-C's of Vanessa are truly divine (and almost as good as Amanda Lear's!)  And at the 0:54 mark in the video, Vanessa buzzing down the street atop a shiny motorcycle...nothing is more POP!!  Oh to be a new student in the School of Vanessa, majoring in VANESSA!!!  I am in LOVE!

Vanessa & Kids - Happy X-mas (War Is Over)

Late in her career as Vanessa, Vanessa recorded a cover single for the Lennon/Ono hit "Happy X-Mas (War Is Over)".  The song features Vanessa's four children as her backing choir!  The best part of the song is the closing moments when Vanessa is telling each child individually that she loves them.  I need to dub my name over Constanza's for sure so Vanessa can tell me she loves ME!!!

The Day I Discovered Vanessa

September 2013, shortly after my 35th birthday, I discovered Vanessa.  I was on YouTube, watching who knows what when, in the suggested videos section, appeared a golden vision of pure pop beauty...VANESSA, in her video for "Upside Down", wearing short neon green shorts and a skimpy, white tank top accentuating her rather large bosom.  On top of that, a shiny, sequined headband.  On looks alone, Vanessa had already stolen my heart.  Then I hit play.  The music...the magic...the POP!  My smile grew and grew while "Upside Down" played as Vanessa bounced around a gym of hunky, 80's men, perverting their workout with her sexy moves.  I'd seen and heard music like this before, but there was something so very, very special about Vanessa that I could not deny.  The Europop beats!  The joyful simplicity of it all.  The complete happiness it made me feel.

My love and obsession with Vanessa has not stopped growing since last September.  I think about her constantly.  I play her music all the time.  This new blog is a culmination of that obsession...that LOVE!  I'm not sure how often I will post here, but it will be often enough.  And of course, there is no video I would even think about sharing with you first other than the first video of Vanessa's that completely enthralled me and will continue to enthrall me for the rest of my life...
